How does 15 years sound? Sounds pretty amazing doesn’t it?
That was unheard of in the label industry, until now. This all came about because we needed to solve a problem for a client. At the time there were no solutions for thermal transfer outdoor colored labels that could run through a thermal transfer printer, such as Zebra, Datamax, Sato, or Intermec, etc.
Our Client Needed Better Weather Resistant Labels
This story is a good example of the great lengths we will go to find the right solution for you! A business that sells outdoor appliances came to us because they needed pre-printed outdoor labels using multiple colors that would not fade.. These weather resistant labels needed to stand up to cold, hot, wet, dry and direct sunlight.
At the time, the only fade resistant inks that were available did not last more than 2-3 years outdoors. In my quest to source this product, I was told by EIGHT different suppliers that it just does not exist! I was not willing to accept that and was determined to get this product developed.
As more and more companies compete for market share, they have to come up with new and innovative ways to showcase their products. In addition, statistics show that color greatly improves marketability. So, the key to all of this was to have a colored label that could run through a thermal transfer printer and last for many years.
If you can’t find it, invent it!
A chemist was hired and after two long years of development and testing, we finally got an approved product. We can offer most colors of inks on a label that is capable of running through a thermal transfer printer and stand up against the sun and elements. YES!
Not only is this ink fade resistant, we also have submitted and passed UL approval to back it up. This label solution consists of 2 parts; the base label and a matte overlam. We provide the special ink on press and then apply a thermal transfer imprintable overlam in either gloss or matte for the customer to print the variable data. This solution offers the best of both worlds by incorporating fade resistant color with on demand label printing.
To our knowledge, PaladinID is the only company who can currently offer this product, since we were integral in its inception.
