Still Running a TSC CPX4 Inkjet Label Printer? PaladinID Can Help Keep You Printing.
TSC is well known throughout the barcode and identification industry for its thermal label printers, but the company also developed a full-color inkjet label printing platform: the TSC CPX4 Series.
The CPX4 Series included two versions, the dye-based CPX4D and pigment-based CPX4P, giving businesses the ability to produce professional full-color labels in-house and on demand.
Although TSC has discontinued the CPX4 Series, many of these printers remain in service and those businesses still need properly constructed inkjet labels.
That is where PaladinID can help.
The printer is only one part of a successful labeling system. The label material, inkjet coating, adhesive, size, roll construction, ink technology, and environment where the finished label will be used all play a role in performance.
PaladinID offers both Stock Inkjet Labels and custom inkjet labels for compatible TSC CPX4 printers. With more than 40 years of labeling experience, we can help you work backward from your application to determine the right label construction.
The TSC CPX4 Color Inkjet Label Printer Family
The CPX4 was TSC’s first full-color inkjet label printer series and was designed for businesses that wanted the flexibility to print professional color labels on demand.
The series included:
- TSC CPX4D Dye Ink Color Label Printer
- TSC CPX4P Pigment Ink Color Label Printer
Both printers were designed to produce full-color images, clear text, sharp barcodes, and variable information at resolutions up to 1200 x 1200 dpi.
The CPX4 Series supports media approximately 1 inch to 4.72 inches wide and can accommodate roll-fed, fanfold, die-cut, gap, black-mark, and continuous media.
Compatible media can include properly qualified matte paper, gloss paper, PET film, BOPP, and other inkjet-compatible synthetic materials.
The important difference between the two CPX4 models is the ink.
The CPX4D uses dye-based ink for vibrant color reproduction, while the CPX4P uses pigment-based ink for applications requiring increased durability, UV resistance, and fade resistance.
Choosing between the two ink technologies is important, but choosing the correct label material is equally important.
Which TSC CPX4 Printer Are You Using?
TSC CPX4D Dye Inkjet Label Printer
The CPX4D uses dye-based CMYK inks and is designed for applications where brilliant color reproduction and visual impact are priorities.
Typical applications can include:
- Food and beverage labels
- Wine and specialty beverage labels
- Product labels
- Retail labels
- Promotional labels
- Healthcare labels
- Nutrition labels
- Barcode labels
- Packaging labels
- Variable-data labels
For prime product labels where branding and color reproduction are important, the CPX4D can provide an excellent on-demand printing solution when paired with the right inkjet label material.
TSC CPX4P Pigment Inkjet Label Printer
The CPX4P uses pigment-based CMYK inks and is designed for applications that require added durability.
Pigment ink provides greater UV and fade resistance than dye ink, making the CPX4P better suited for applications requiring longer-term durability.
The CPX4P can also be used for demanding chemical and GHS labeling applications when paired with the appropriate qualified label material.
But pigment ink alone does not make every label suitable for a harsh environment.
The ink, inkjet coating, facestock, adhesive, and finished label construction must all work together.
The TSC CPX4 Is Discontinued. Your Need for Labels Isn’t.
TSC discontinued the CPX4 Series in 2022 and did not identify a direct replacement color inkjet model.
That does not mean businesses stopped using their CPX4 printers.
If your CPX4D or CPX4P is still doing its job, there may be no reason to stop using it simply because the printer is no longer being manufactured.
You still need labels that fit the printer, print correctly, feed properly, adhere to your product, and perform in the environment where they will be used.
PaladinID can help you continue sourcing stock and custom inkjet labels for compatible CPX4 applications.
Two Ways to Buy Labels for Your TSC CPX4 Inkjet Printer
1. Stock TSC CPX4 Inkjet Labels
If your TSC CPX4 uses a common label size and material, start with PaladinID’s Stock Inkjet Labels.
We offer hundreds of stock inkjet label size and material combinations for businesses that need quality blank labels without waiting for a custom manufacturing run.
Stock labels can be an excellent choice when:
- Your application uses a common label size
- You need labels quickly
- You do not require a specialty adhesive
- You need smaller quantities
- You are testing a new CPX4 labeling application
- You want to avoid custom manufacturing when it is not necessary
Before manufacturing something custom, we recommend looking at our Stock Inkjet Labels first.
Why manufacture a custom label if PaladinID already has the right solution sitting on the shelf?
That is part of what being your Label Guide means.
2. Custom TSC CPX4 Inkjet Labels With Real-Time Online Pricing
What if the label you need is not available as a stock product?
This is where PaladinID is changing the way custom inkjet labels are purchased.
Our new Custom Inkjet Label App allows you to configure a custom blank inkjet label and see current pricing in real time.
Traditionally, purchasing custom labels meant sending specifications to a supplier, requesting a quote, waiting for pricing, changing the quantity, requesting another price, and waiting again.
We thought there should be a better way.
Now There Is.
Select your printer.
Choose your label shape and size.
Choose your material.
Enter your quantity.
See your pricing in real time.
Change the quantity and immediately see how it affects the price. Compare different configurations without repeatedly requesting another quote.
We believe this can revolutionize how businesses research and purchase custom blank inkjet labels.

Dye or Pigment? Choosing the Right TSC CPX4 Label Material
TSC designed the CPX4 Series around two different ink technologies.
Understanding which printer you have is an important first step in choosing the correct media.
CPX4D Dye Ink
Dye-based ink is an excellent choice when vibrant color, graphics, branding, and visual impact are priorities.
Applications can include food and beverage labels, retail products, wine labels, promotional labels, packaging, and other prime-label applications.
CPX4P Pigment Ink
Pigment-based ink offers increased UV and fade resistance and is better suited for applications where longevity and durability are important.
The CPX4P can also be used with appropriate media for demanding GHS and chemical-label applications.
Paper or Synthetic?
Inkjet-coated matte or gloss paper can be an excellent solution for many indoor product and identification applications.
For applications requiring additional moisture resistance, durability, flexibility, or environmental resistance, an inkjet-compatible synthetic material such as BOPP or PET may be the better solution.
What Adhesive Do You Need?
A great-looking label that falls off the product is still the wrong label.
Glass, corrugated cardboard, polyethylene, polypropylene, metal, flexible packaging, and other surfaces can require different adhesives.
Application temperature, refrigeration, freezing, moisture, chemicals, oils, and the required label life can also affect adhesive selection.
This is why PaladinID wants to understand the application before recommending the label.
Why Buy TSC CPX4 Inkjet Labels From PaladinID?
There are plenty of places where you can purchase a roll of blank inkjet labels.
PaladinID’s job is to help you purchase the right label.
More Than 40 Years of Label Experience
PaladinID has spent more than four decades solving labeling applications. Facestocks, inkjet coatings, adhesives, liners, printer compatibility, roll configurations, application surfaces, and environmental conditions all matter.
We Support Installed Printers
The fact that a printer has been discontinued does not mean the customer’s labeling application disappeared.
If your CPX4D or CPX4P is still producing labels, PaladinID can help you identify stock or custom label options that meet your printer and application requirements.
We Understand Dye and Pigment Inkjet Applications
The CPX4D and CPX4P use different ink technologies and can be used for very different labeling applications.
We look beyond whether a roll simply fits inside the printer and consider what the finished label needs to accomplish after it is printed and applied.
We Start With Your Application
We do not start with the label we want to sell.
We start with what you are trying to accomplish and work backward to determine the right solution.
Stock Labels When Stock Makes Sense
If one of our Stock Inkjet Labels works for your TSC printer and application, that is where we will start.
There is no reason to manufacture something custom if we already have the right solution available.

That is where custom converting becomes valuable.

Real-Time Custom Label Pricing
Our Custom Inkjet Label App allows you to configure a label and immediately see pricing based on your selections.
Change the size. Change the material. Change the quantity. See what happens to your price.
We believe buying custom labels should be that simple.
Don’t Start With the Label. Start With the Application.
After more than four decades in the labeling industry, we’ve learned one of the most important lessons.
We do not start with the product we want to sell.
We start with your end goal and work backward.
Which TSC CPX4 printer are you using?
Are you using the dye-based CPX4D or pigment-based CPX4P?
What are you labeling?
What surface is the label being applied to?
What does the finished label need to look like?
What environment will it encounter?
Does it need to meet a particular durability or regulatory requirement?
How long does it need to remain attached?
Once we understand those answers, we can determine the appropriate:
- TSC CPX4 printer compatibility
- Label size and shape
- Facestock
- Inkjet coating
- Adhesive
- Liner
- Roll configuration
- Finished label durability
We don’t believe in forcing every customer into the same label.
We believe in finding the solution that works for your application.
That is what being your Label Guide is all about.
