Zebra 8000T Jewelry – Thermal Transfer Polypropylene Labels with Permanent Adhesive
High Durability • Chemical Resistant • Zebra Performance
For labeling applications requiring exceptional durability and chemical resistance on small or curved surfaces, Zebra 8000T Jewelry is a high-performance thermal transfer polypropylene label paired with a permanent acrylic adhesive. This material is ideal for jewelry tagging, ring labels, and wire/cable labeling applications, offering excellent adhesion and print clarity.
According to Zebra specifications, this facestock is a 3.7 mil white coated matte polypropylene with a 1.0 mil acrylic-based permanent adhesive and 40 lb. kraft liner. Total construction thickness is 7.5 mil ± 10%.
Engineered for use in harsh handling environments, 8000T Jewelry provides excellent chemical resistance, including against alcohol, ammonia, bleach, and IPA. It performs in temperatures from –40°F to 250°F (–40°C to 121°C), with a minimum application temperature of 45°F (7°C). Expected exterior life is 1 year.
For optimal print performance, Zebra recommends 6100 or 3200 resin ribbons based on chemical exposure level (see resistance table).

Zebra 8000T Jewelry (Jewelry Butterfly Label with Flaps) – FAQ’s
1. What is the Zebra 8000T Jewelry butterfly label with flaps used for?
The Zebra 8000T Jewelry butterfly label with flaps is designed for labeling jewelry items such as rings, bracelets, necklaces, and watches. The label wraps around the item, while the protective flaps cover the printed information to protect barcodes and pricing from smudging, wear, or adhesive contact.
2. What are the flaps on a jewelry butterfly label for?
The flaps are designed to protect the printed barcode and product information. After printing, the flaps fold over the printed section to shield it from abrasion, oils, or adhesive exposure, helping keep the barcode readable.
3. Is the Zebra 8000T Jewelry label a thermal transfer label?
Yes. The Zebra 8000T Jewelry label is a thermal transfer label, which requires a thermal transfer ribbon for printing. This method produces durable, high-contrast barcodes that are ideal for retail inventory tracking.
4. What types of jewelry can these labels be used on?
Zebra butterfly jewelry labels are commonly used for rings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, earrings, and other small luxury accessories. The butterfly design makes them ideal for labeling small and delicate merchandise.
5. Why are butterfly labels used for jewelry instead of standard labels?
Standard labels are often too large or bulky for jewelry items. Butterfly labels are specifically designed to wrap around small products while leaving a printable area for barcodes and pricing, making them ideal for retail displays.
6. What type of adhesive does the Zebra 8000T Jewelry label use?
These labels typically feature a permanent acrylic adhesive designed to hold securely on jewelry tags and small merchandise items.
7. Will Zebra 8000T Jewelry labels work with Zebra barcode printers?
Yes. These labels are designed to work with thermal transfer desktop barcode printers, including many Zebra models commonly used in retail stores.
8. Do the protective flaps improve barcode durability?
Yes. The flaps help protect the printed barcode and text from friction, handling, and environmental exposure, which helps maintain reliable scanning at the point of sale.
9. What industries commonly use Zebra jewelry butterfly labels?
These labels are commonly used in jewelry retail stores, pawn shops, watch retailers, boutique accessory shops, and luxury retail environments where inventory tracking and product pricing are important.
10. How do I choose the right jewelry butterfly label for my printer?
To select the correct jewelry label, match the label size, roll core diameter, and roll outside diameter (OD) with your printer specifications. Jewelry labels are commonly produced for desktop printers used in retail POS environments.
