Outdoor Variable Imaged Label
This customer needed a durable outdoor variable imaged label with color that would be applied to an electrical appliance and had to last 10-15 years without fading. At the time, there were no flexographic inks available to solve this product labeling application. PaladinID was the 8th vendor through the door trying to solve this problem. The customer was currently printing all of their labels in-house using a Markem LP8400 printer and needed all of the capabilities that printer provided, but the LP8400 was now obsolete and some of the parts were not available.
We took on the challenge and decided to invent out own set of fade resistant inks. After two years of testing and tinkering, we finally came up with the perfect solution. We were able to pre-print the colors the customer needed, put on a thermal imprintable matte overlam to protect the colors so the customer could print the variable data through a thermal transfer printer with a resin ribbon. With this change over in technology, the customer was able to maintain and even increase their workload by 200% while not missing a beat. It was a great success story.
