Zebra 8000T Z-Destruct™ – Thermal Transfer Destructible Vinyl Labels with Permanent Adhesive
Tamper-Evident • Chemical Resistant • Zebra Security Performance
When security and tamper detection are critical, Zebra 8000T Z-Destruct™ provides a high-performance labeling solution. This material features a thermal transfer white destructible vinyl facestock with a permanent acrylic adhesive, engineered to fracture upon removal, leaving visible evidence of interference.
The facestock is 2.5 mil destructible vinyl, paired with a 0.8 mil permanent acrylic adhesive, backed by 3.1 mil semi-bleached kraft liner, totaling 6.4 mil (±10% thickness).
It offers excellent chemical resistance and good smear/scratch protection, making it ideal for applications that require both label durability and tamper evidence.
Temperature performance supports demanding environments:
-
Minimum application temperature: 50°F (10°C)
-
Service range: –60°F to 250°F (–57°C to 121°C)
-
Expected exterior life: 1 year
For optimal print performance and chemical durability, Zebra recommends 6100 or 6200 resin ribbons, with 3200 acceptable for weak/moderate chemical exposure.

Zebra 8000T Z-Destruct – FAQ’s
1. What is the Zebra 8000T Z-Destruct label used for?
The Zebra 8000T Z-Destruct label is designed for tamper-evident labeling and asset protection applications. The label breaks apart when someone attempts to remove it, making it ideal for warranty seals, asset tracking labels, and serialized equipment identification.
2. What does “Z-Destruct” mean for a security label?
“Z-Destruct” refers to a destructible label material that fragments or breaks apart if removal is attempted. This provides clear evidence that the label has been tampered with.
3. Is the Zebra 8000T Z-Destruct label a thermal transfer label?
Yes. The Zebra 8000T Z-Destruct is a thermal transfer label, meaning it requires a thermal transfer ribbon to print durable text and barcodes.
4. What material is used in Zebra Z-Destruct labels?
These labels are typically made from destructible vinyl or polyethylene designed to break apart if someone tries to remove them from a surface.
5. What type of adhesive does the Zebra 8000T Z-Destruct label use?
The label uses a permanent, aggressive adhesive that bonds strongly to surfaces and contributes to the destructible tamper-evident behavior.
6. What industries commonly use destructible labels?
Z-Destruct labels are commonly used in electronics manufacturing, IT asset management, medical device identification, warranty seal labeling, equipment tracking, and security compliance applications.
7. What surfaces can Zebra Z-Destruct labels be applied to?
These labels typically adhere well to metal equipment housings, plastic electronics cases, asset tags, equipment plates, machinery, and industrial tools.
8. Are Z-Destruct labels resistant to tampering?
Yes. The destructible face stock ensures the label breaks apart into small fragments if someone attempts to peel it off, preventing reuse and providing clear evidence of tampering.
9. Will Zebra 8000T Z-Destruct labels work with Zebra barcode printers?
Yes. These labels are designed for thermal transfer industrial barcode printers, including many Zebra models used in manufacturing and asset tracking environments.
10. Why choose destructible labels instead of VOID labels?
Destructible labels physically break apart when removed, making them impossible to reuse. VOID labels leave a message behind when removed, while destructible labels fragment completely, providing another form of tamper evidence.
