Day 2 of PackExpo 2011 was another success. After hearing from people on the floor, they said traffic was brisk and that people were out shopping and not just kicking tires. They are looking forward to a strong finish today. I will post more news and information as soon as it comes in.
PackExpo 2011 I am told was a huge success and very well attended. I talked with three of my vendors who are exhibiting there, Source Technologies booth #6830, Ascent Motion Industries booth # 4741 and Datamax-O’Neil booth # 2411. They all said that people were out with looking to solve applications and purchase new equipment. The attendance is up by a large margin over last year. Maybe the economy is getting better and people are feeling more confident about their businesses. That is a great thing. More later as I get updates.
It was just announced that DL Technology Ltd. has just released a product called DLSoft Bar Code 2D Tools. It will enable companies to print 2D bar codes within Crystal Reports XI applications. It is great seeing bar codes being used to make companies more efficient. I would say that 50% of the companies do not print or use bar codes. Of the remaining 50%, most will print bar codes, but the vast majority of these companies do not use them at all. If companies would use the tools that are low cost and readily available, they could be much more efficient than they currently are, thus saving money and time and in the end, become more competitive. Remember, your typical bar code scanner will not read a 2D bar code, you will need to upgrade to an Imager that will read 1D and 2D bar codes. We carry them all. If you would like to take advantage of using bar codes, Contact Us.

The PackExpo 2011 will take place September 26-28, 2011 in Las Vegas, NV at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This is the premier packing show in the country. Be sure to check out these two companies with their new product offerings. The first one is Source Technologies, in booth# 6830 with their new bar code label printer, the STP1120N. This is an exciting new printer that will become a major player in the industry. The second company to visit is Ascent Motion Industries, booth# 4741. They will feature their new Ascent 3000 color ink jet label printer. I am very excited about these two new offerings since they fill a void that has been in the bar code label industry. For more information or samples on these exciting new products, please visit their booths, or Contact US.
It has been known for sometime in the industry that the USB board has had a bad solder connection. I have replaced many boards over the past two years. I finally decided to do something about it. Pictured below is a cable stay that I have found that greatly reduces the strain the cable has on the USB connector. I provide these free of charge to my customers. If you have a Zebra printer using the USB port and do not want it to break, Contact US and I will be glad to send you a cable stay for each printer you have at no charge, yes free! This .25 cent plastic piece is a whole lot less expensive than a $450.00 USB board plus installation.
Just heard word that we have a booth at the BIO 2012 Boston Conference in June 2012. We are excited about this opportunity to show case our new line of printers and bar code labels that are designed for the Bio Tech Industry. More information on that, click here BIO 2012 Boston. This conference is particularly good for us because it is in our backyard and many of our customers will attend. We focus much of our business around specialty label printing applications with out of the box thinking. The Bio Tech community is a great fit for what we do.

Source Technologies just released the industry’s first PCL5E printer language thermal transfer bar code printer. I am pleasantly surprised at the reception the industry is giving this new printer. While this is not an option with other manufacturers printers, it seems like this was something companies wanted. The feedback I am hearing is that people do not want to use proprietary software, they want the flexibility of printing directly to the printer from any program and not having to convert the data to a specific format. What this means is that if you have a PDF or Word file, you can print directly to this printer. This feature just became available with this new printer line. If this is something you have been looking for, give us a call.
